Sparkasse – Notes on Account Integration and Login (as of September 2025)
The Sparkassen are organized regionally in Germany, but use comparable standards nationwide for online banking and HBCI/FinTS. The supported TAN methods and login credentials may vary slightly depending on the Sparkasse and account type. If in doubt, check your regional Sparkasse’s website.
Login notes for Sparkasse:
- User ID: Usually your 10-digit identification ID (alternatively: login name or alias, if set up in online banking).
- PIN: Your personal online banking PIN (at least 8 digits, not the starter PIN).
- TAN methods: Supported methods include pushTAN (Sparkasse app), chipTAN (generator), smsTAN (increasingly being phased out), photoTAN (at some institutions), and possibly others.
- For HBCI/FinTS access, a compatible TAN method (e.g., chipTAN, pushTAN) is required. Not all methods (e.g., smsTAN) are supported everywhere.
- To set up in banking software or third-party apps, you need the identification ID/login name and your online banking PIN.
Special notes:
- The Sparkasse app (pushTAN) and the chipTAN generator are suitable for authorizing transactions via online banking and HBCI/FinTS.
- The setup and management of TAN methods is done in your Sparkasse’s online banking portal.
- After several failed attempts, access is automatically blocked. Unblocking is possible via Sparkasse.
Note in case of problems with bank login via fino services:
- Check your login credentials (identification ID/login name/alias and PIN) for your Sparkasse.
- Ensure that your TAN method (pushTAN, chipTAN or photoTAN) is active and functioning.
- Check whether third-party provider access is enabled and valid at your Sparkasse.
- If the problem persists, have your login credentials, TAN method, and permissions checked by your Sparkasse.
